Brand new album uploading blog trash...

This is an section taken from my page written in the latest Big Smoke magazine. Incase you've not seen it, please read this, and if you're one of the parasites killing off our artform, please stop!

>>

"How much longer can we all survive if countless dumb ass blog sites decide to post up album’s for free, days after it’s release, or in some cases before it’s release?!! Seriously, sorry to start off with a rant, but for fucks sake, behind the scenes there’s a lot of hard graft going into albums being made, and I mean A LOT of hard graft. Not just from the artists themselves, but radio DJ’s, journalists, distributors, retailers, if this shit carries on we’ll all be out of jobs. We’ll be the downfall of the one good thing in life we’ve created, Hip-Hop.

So to all those punk ass blog sluts throwing up brand new albums, stop that shit. Please. It’s not big and it’s not clever, your argument is that it’s promoting the music yeah? Well when the younger generation are growing up bluetoothing music to each other they’ve got for free anyway, not giving a flying fuck about anything going back into the artist’s pocket they love, not caring about owning any physical product ‘cause it’s for free anyway isn’t it? That’s when it has to stop, we’re killing Hip-Hop..."

>>

This will probally have no effect whatsoever, but I just wanted to highlight the fact that many of our favourite artists, record labels, magazines, record stores, and ironically enough, blog sites, will no longer be around if this continues as no-one will be making any money off the artform to create the music we all love!

Here endith my sermon.

Thank you for reading, Disorda.

Think you’re preaching to the choir over here Father, I think we’ll need a digital key and code system on every album coz it’s just too easy for them to steal it right now. Peace.

Please stop! It even seems pointless for me to do what I do - why read about an album when you can get it for free!?

I mean please stop the uploading!

It is people who do reveiws on blogs , who get the releases early that put them up for free download, why cant people see this? There the only people who have access to them,

So Stop doing it!

Who actually cares what people have to say who reveiw the albums on these so called blogs, its your opinion if u like it,

everyone has there own oppinion!

Stop letting people like ''certified banger'' reveiwing, then they wont get released!!

AND GO AND BUY THE ALBUMS!!!!!

IF YOU LIKE UK HIP HOP, AND WANT IT TO CARRY ON BEING MADE, YOU HAVE TO PUT THE MONEY IN, I AM AN ARTIST MYSELF, AND PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF FIND IT VERY HARD TO BREAK EVEN ON A OUR PROFITS, BECAUSE KNOWONE IS BUYING, THERE JUST BOOTLEGGING IT!!

AND CERTIFIED BANGER, YOU ARE A MEMBER OF A FORUM WHERE MOST OF THESE ILLEGAL ALBUMS ORGINATE FROM ANYWAY, AND YOU EVEN POST THINGS YOURSELF...

WHY DO PEOPLE GIVE THIS IDIOT THERE ALBUMS EARLY, HE CLEARLY IS THE ONE BOOTLEGGING IT AMONGST OTHER REVEIWER'S

I agree fully that uploading is a problem and its killing the scene...

That said I must defend Certified Banger, that particular blog site does nothing but good for the UK hip hop scene and never gives away illegal downloads?!?!

I'll continue to send all my music to Certified Banger for review as its the one of the few blog sites i know that won't bootleg shit!

Its so easy now to steal tracks people put up on Myspace or Facebook and from personal experience I've had tracks taken and put up on blog site before i've sent the track to be reviwed by anyone, so the blog sites aren't entirly to blame.

Artists can protect themselves by releasing radio edits etc but if someone really wants to bootleg something theres no real way to stop them..

Heads should buy the physical product, who the fuck want collections of thousands of tiny yellow folders or shitty copied cdr's??? Personally I still buy everything I can on vinyl and will continue to do so as long as the black stuff is getting pressed!

This is possibly the most absurd point ever. Taken to its logical conclusion, it would mean that there would be no point in anyone ever telling anyone else anything, just because the other person could experience it for themselves.

I think you'll find that I only up things on that forum that are free already. I admit in the past, a while ago, I have posted a couple of albums - old albums, that would be harder to get hold of - but for a long time now I haven't.

You'll find, if you speak to PR people and artists, that if I see a link to a new or unreleased album that I email them with the link so they can sort it out. You will also find that I raise the same issues as Disorda with the people on there.

I also haven't posted ANYTHING that I've been sent for download and everyone who sends me stuff KNOWS they can trust me.

I don't know who you are (why anonymous?!), but as an artist, surely you know the importance of journalism? For example, I know that I used to go off HHC reviews to inform my buying. Like B said, people will keep sending it to me because they trust and respect me.

Disorda, sorry to clog up your comments with such petty things!

He must think I'm some kinda Jekyll/Hyde character!

Certified Banger is one of the few blogs that actually help artists get exposure.

He does a lot of work with unknown acts for no profit or recognition... an over the past 12months has built a great relationship with many artists, PR and other respectable bloggers.

Bloggers like Certified Banger probably get artists a few more sales...

if your peddling out music and have a small fan base and struggling to get any exposure then these types of blogs are a lifeline to unknown artists?

Or do you wanna go stand outside HMV on a wet saturday trying to sell your CD's to spotty 13 year olds?

That's where all these albums are posted before they're released.
